Life is a ride one keeps on going sometimes the road is even and smooth but at times it adjoins the bumpy path with dug holes and ditches. You have got to keep the ball of life rolling. The smoother journey is defined as SUCCESS to us and we all aspire for the easy-going life, a life free of hassles, worries and fears.

How Rome was built? (Cardinal Rules of Success)

Life is a ride one keeps on going sometimes the road is even and smooth but at times it adjoins the bumpy path with dug holes and ditches. You have got to keep the ball of life rolling. The smoother journey is defined as SUCCESS to us and we all aspire for the easy-going life, a life free of hassles, worries, and fears. We plan and put forth our best endeavors to actualize our visions. But not all prayers are answered at once, not all aims are met immediately and not all dreams are realized overnight. And one’s hopes fall into the realm of despair. Rejections cause dejection, failures are discouraging and setbacks are devastating. But one needs to comprehend, is the trajectory of Success.

Mind you that there are no shortcuts to success in life.  Another adage goes that “There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs”. And then comes my favorite “Rome wasn’t built in a day” yet the poignant fact is that they were laying bricks every hour. This is where most start-ups, entrepreneurial journey come to halt when they expect the fruit before the harvest season. Sir, W. Churchill defines it well that “Success consists of going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm”. The following are some cardinal rules of success; worth noting and taken care of if you have also hitched up on the journey to “Get What You Want”:

Faith

Faith moves mountains. Indeed, the impeccability of faith is the key requirement for any uphill task. Faith diverges into two forms; The Divine Faith and Self-Belief. Firstly, you have got have faith that there is some power beyond your sanity that has shown you the aim you wish to seek. And it’s the one who would guide you to your destination. Remember, no matter how long the tunnel is, there is always light at the end. Belief in The Supreme ignites the light in the dark of dooms. Secondly, believe in yourself that no matter how hard it seems, you have the capability to crack it someday. And if you don’t, you would learn it with grit and resilience. Giving up is never the choice you would opt for.

Risk

It’s always risky out there. Do you know what the biggest risk of life is, you can’t get out alive? You know that when you start spinning the dream, it was full of risks. You fear the failures since the beginning. You have no idea where you wind up to be when you set off the journey. Romans also had no idea that they would make it or not but they laid every single brick with the best of their faith and self-believed vision. Falling is temporary but surrendering makes it permanent. There was once a paradigm that risking is what it takes to succeed. Then a new paradigm was enlightened that it’s ever quite riskier to risk if you haven’t calculated the risk. The calculation is about identifying the likelihood of failures and having the counter plans to cope with the present and the potential risks.

Plan

If you are failing to plan, you are planning to fail. In the game of life, you may fall or fail, but you need to plan your back up moves, you need to have options; being strategically designed. Effective planning helps you foresee the potential bottlenecks or the impediments in your process and enable you to devise counter strategies for overcoming those roadblocks.  Planning is like sharpening the saw as Mr. Lincoln says, “If I were to chop a tree in 8 hours, I’d spend 6 hours sharpening the saw”. You can’t cut a tree the whole day with a blunt saw. The sharper the saw, the quicker the results with no loss at all. So, the simple strategy is “Plan your work, then work your plan” and there is no stopping to success.

Execution

Inspiration calls for execution. An idea no matter how effectively envisioned and planned, become futile unless executed in spirits. Focus on the latter part of the maxim, Rome wasn’t built in a day but THEY WERE LAYING THE BRICKS. Execution in a brutal sense turns any wild idea into a vivid reality. There are people who have inspirations, prognostications, and even the favorable wind, yet they fail to sail to their destination. And if they make a move, any hitch falling in their way, simply turn them off their track. Mark it, execution is the only strategy without which no empire or enterprise is built up. All your plans don’t work out unless you work them out.

Reflection

Always set your mind on a learning mode. Every setback is an opportunity to come back even better. Either you win or lose, you always get one gain in return to your efforts “Lesson”. In failures, you learn even more and better since it is the only reward you gain out of failure. Focus on your execution and reflect back whatever the result the moves yield. Take note of what went right or what went wrong. Improve and redirect yourself to the path that actually leads to the promised land. Reflection helps build a lesson learned database which is the ultimate source of wisdom for you in the future. Improvement is a continuous search for a better way so is the success which is not a destination but a journey.
